Digital Art: Haiku Generator, 2003, reworked in 2005

Statement

Haiku Generator* is an interactive, linear narrative that pulls haiku fragments randomly from a pool of content submitted by viewers.

          I created this piece with the intent to challenge the idea of who is artist and what is the art. Is my code the art? Are the phrases submitted by the surfers the art? Is it the viewer choosing the path the artist and the resulting haiku the art?

Browser requirements: safari, netscape, mozilla, or firefox. the javascript used to load the haiku segments does not work in internet explorer on either the mac or pc.
